Jacobs has introduced a digital twin solution purpose-built for AI data centers, signaling a deeper shift toward simulation-led infrastructure planning as hyperscale demand accelerates.

The platform enables developers and asset owners to model, simulate and optimize gigawatt-scale facilities in a fully virtual environment before physical deployment begins. As a result, the approach compresses timelines, enhances energy performance and improves lifecycle outcomes for increasingly complex AI infrastructure.

Built on the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX blueprint, the solution integrates a standardized reference architecture with a hyper-realistic simulation layer. It brings together compute, power and cooling systems into a synchronized virtual model that mirrors real-world operations in real time. This convergence allows stakeholders to test scenarios, validate designs and identify inefficiencies long before capital gets deployed.

Moreover, the platform extends beyond internal systems. It supports secure integration of both on-premises and external components, spanning power configurations, airflow dynamics and environmental variables. By unifying compute, cooling, water systems and site-specific parameters, Jacobs delivers end-to-end visibility from early-stage planning through commissioning and ongoing operations.

Jacobs Chair and Chief Executive Officer Bob Pragada said, “Advanced facilities are becoming increasingly complex and costly to build, and as AI infrastructure scales to the gigawatt level, owners need greater certainty before committing capital. With our deep knowledge, global workforce and decades of delivering the world’s most advanced facilities, we’re creating solutions that help owners plan more efficiently, improve performance and achieve more secure and resilient long-term operations.”

Lifecycle Expansion and Modular Deployment Strategy

The initial module of the digital twin is now available to owners and operators. However, Jacobs is positioning the platform as a lifecycle-wide system. Future iterations aim to extend capabilities across design, construction and commissioning phases, while also introducing scaled-down blueprints for 250-megawatt facilities to broaden adoption across the industry.

In addition, the modular reference design embedded within the platform supports rapid and repeatable deployment of gigawatt-scale infrastructure. This standardization aligns closely with NVIDIA’s Omniverse DSX framework, reinforcing a growing ecosystem of interoperable tools designed to industrialize AI data center delivery.

Jacobs continues to deepen its footprint across advanced technology sectors, supporting leading organizations including NVIDIA, Hut 8 and PsiQuantum. The company’s integrated project delivery model addresses rising pressures from climate risk and regulatory complexity to compressed deployment schedules, enabling operators to stay ahead in a market defined by scale, speed and precision.

Building an AI Startup Without Owning GPUs

Not owning GPUs has become the default, deliberate strategy for building an AI company — not a compromise founders accept reluctantly. H100 rental rates fell 64-75% in fifteen months, a dense ecosystem of neoclouds and inference-as-a-service providers now lets startups skip infrastructure entirely, and credit programs can fund a company’s first year before a founder writes a check
