CoreSite has expanded its Oracle Cloud connectivity footprint with a new OCI FastConnect on-ramp to Oracle’s San Jose cloud region, giving enterprises in Silicon Valley a private path into Oracle’s infrastructure. The deployment adds another connectivity option for companies running mission-critical applications across colocation facilities, cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure. It also pushes CoreSite’s Oracle relationship deeper into the architecture layer, where network proximity and predictable bandwidth can directly shape application performance. For enterprises building increasingly distributed systems, the announcement matters less as a new connection and more as another piece in the race to make multicloud infrastructure easier to engineer.
CoreSite Expands Oracle Cloud Connectivity
The new FastConnect on-ramp operates from CoreSite’s Silicon Valley data center campus and connects customers directly to the Oracle Cloud San Jose Region. CoreSite now offers private connectivity into four commercial OCI regions across the U.S., giving customers more options when they design application placement, redundancy and disaster-recovery strategies. Rather than relying on the public internet, customers can use dedicated connectivity designed around consistent performance, bandwidth and latency requirements. That architecture can become particularly valuable for workloads that move large volumes of data or depend on predictable communication between infrastructure environments.
The broader opportunity sits in how enterprises distribute workloads rather than simply where they host them. A company may keep databases, applications and specialized infrastructure in different environments while using OCI for compute-intensive or cloud-native services. Direct access to multiple Oracle regions gives infrastructure teams more room to separate production workloads, recovery environments and geographically distributed applications. It also reduces the need to treat a single cloud region as the fixed center of an enterprise architecture.
FastConnect Targets Multicloud Architecture
CoreSite’s expansion comes as enterprises increasingly assemble infrastructure from multiple cloud and colocation environments instead of moving everything into one provider. OCI FastConnect provides a dedicated network path that can help applications communicate with Oracle Cloud without sending traffic across the public internet. Oracle Pushes Distributed Cloud Strategy
Oracle is positioning OCI as infrastructure that can operate across public cloud, customer data centers, edge environments and multiple cloud locations. The company says OCI provides security, consistent performance, global pricing and connectivity options supported by an ecosystem of more than 110 FastConnect global and regional partners. That partner network gives enterprises multiple ways to establish dedicated access to Oracle regions and services without building every connection independently.
Oracle also continues to emphasize distributed cloud as a way to bring cloud capabilities into environments where customers require greater control over data, location and performance. The company positions that model for workloads involving data privacy, sovereign AI and low-latency requirements. OCI also claims the ability to deliver more than 200 AI and cloud services across the edge, customer data centers, other clouds and public cloud environments.
The Bigger Shift Is Network-Centric Cloud Design
CoreSite’s Oracle expansion highlights a broader change in enterprise infrastructure planning. Cloud selection once dominated architecture conversations, but network location now increasingly determines how effectively companies can combine several infrastructure environments. A private path into an OCI region may look like a relatively narrow connectivity upgrade, yet it can influence where applications run, how recovery systems operate and how companies divide workloads between clouds.
For CoreSite, adding San Jose to its Oracle connectivity footprint strengthens its position as an interconnection layer between enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms.
