KKR-Singtel Deal Gives STTGDC Fresh AI Growth Firepower

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STTGDC) has completed its acquisition by a consortium led by KKR and Singtel, giving the data center operator additional capital as demand for AI infrastructure accelerates across Asia and Europe. The transaction brings funds managed by KKR and Singtel behind STTGDC, although the parties have not disclosed financial terms. STTGDC will retain its name and existing leadership team, preserving continuity as the company introduces a refreshed global brand centered on the positioning “Built Ready.” The new identity captures a bigger strategic ambition: building infrastructure that can handle increasingly demanding cloud and AI workloads without sacrificing resilience or execution discipline.

The timing matters because STTGDC is already expanding at a rapid pace. Since the end of 2025, its operational capacity has climbed 25% to 780 MW, while contracted capacity has increased 50%. Annualized EBITDA also rose 30% between December 2025 and June 2026, pointing to stronger commercial momentum from hyperscalers, cloud providers, AI customers and enterprises. With nearly 2 GW of powered land secured for assets under construction and the wider development pipeline, the company now has substantial room to turn contracted demand into physical capacity.

India Emerges as a Major Growth Engine

India sits at the center of that expansion, with STTGDC operating 34 data centers across 10 cities and more than 613 MW of IT capacity. That footprint gives the company a sizeable position in a market where cloud adoption, AI deployment and digital services are pushing demand for power-intensive infrastructure. The broader strategy is not simply to accumulate megawatts, but to prioritize markets where customer demand aligns with available power, infrastructure readiness, government policy and long-term economic fundamentals. That approach could become increasingly important as developers compete for constrained power and suitable locations.

Indonesia and Singapore add further weight to the regional strategy. STTGDC is expanding its Jakarta campus with a pipeline exceeding 360 MW of AI-ready IT capacity, supported by secured power. In Singapore, the company has been selected to develop 50 MW of sustainable, AI-ready data center capacity, reinforcing its position in a market where land and energy constraints make large-scale expansion particularly strategic. Together, these projects show how the operator is positioning secured power and deployment readiness as competitive advantages rather than treating capacity as a standalone metric.

New Capital Meets Rising AI Power Demand

Sustainability is also becoming harder to separate from STTGDC’s growth equation as AI workloads increase electricity requirements. The company says 83.2% of the electricity consumed across its operations is sourced from renewable energy, while it has already surpassed its 2028 carbon-intensity reduction target three years ahead of schedule. That progress gives STTGDC a stronger foundation as customers increasingly scrutinize the emissions profile of the infrastructure supporting their AI and cloud operations. The challenge now is maintaining that trajectory while scaling capacity across multiple power-constrained markets.

KKR and Singtel’s investment therefore arrives as more than a change in ownership structure. It gives STTGDC greater financial flexibility and access to infrastructure expertise as it works to convert rising AI and cloud demand into operational data centers across Asia, the United Kingdom and Europe. The company says its management, operations and customer relationships will remain intact, reducing the disruption typically associated with a major ownership transition. For STTGDC, the larger question is whether its new capital base can help it move quickly enough to capture AI-driven demand before power, permitting and infrastructure constraints become the limiting factors.

STTGDC Bets on a “Built Ready” Future

Bruno Lopez, President and Group CEO of STTGDC, framed the transaction as a defining moment in the company’s development, “Today marks the most important turning point in STTGDC’s evolution since we founded the company more than 12 years ago. The completion of this transaction signals the beginning of a new chapter for our company. We have spent over a decade building a global platform with the scale, capabilities and operating discipline needed to support the next generation of cloud and AI growth.

“With the KKR-Singtel consortium’s investment, we have greater capacity to grow and execute at scale while remaining true to the values and customer commitment that have defined STTGDC from its inception. Our refreshed brand reflects both the company we have become and the responsibility we carry as digital infrastructure becomes increasingly critical to economies, businesses and communities. Built Ready is our commitment to delivering the critical infrastructure our customers need to grow with confidence, while building responsibly and sustaining the trust of governments, customers and communities.”

STTGDC now enters its next phase with 780 MW already operational, a significantly larger contracted base and almost 2 GW of powered land supporting future development. The KKR-Singtel backing gives the company another lever to scale that platform as AI reshapes the economics of data center infrastructure. “Built Ready” is ultimately a positioning statement, but the company’s expanding power portfolio, regional pipeline and financial backing will determine how convincingly it translates into execution.
