Tersis Technologies has entered a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with Flux Core Data Systems and Energy, creating a partnership aimed at bringing power generation and computing capacity together at individual project sites. The arrangement gives Flux Core preferred deployment-partner status for data center and compute infrastructure at Tersis projects, while Tersis becomes a preferred on-site energy partner for Flux Core deployments. The companies are not positioning the agreement as a conventional data center expansion, but as an effort to design generation, cooling and computing infrastructure as one system from the outset. That distinction matters as AI infrastructure developers increasingly confront electricity availability, interconnection delays and transmission limitations alongside the demand for additional computing capacity.

The framework covers a broad development pipeline, including site identification and screening, permitting, interconnection strategy, project development, community engagement and responses to grants and solicitations. Tersis and Flux Core intend to review candidate sites from a shared pipeline regularly and move selected opportunities toward individual project agreements. The companies are considering municipal, industrial, institutional, defense, rural and edge-computing applications, while also targeting enterprise and AI customers seeking capacity beyond heavily constrained data center regions. The strategy could give customers another route to computing capacity by linking generation directly with modular infrastructure rather than waiting for conventional grid-connected projects to progress through lengthy development cycles.

Waste-to-Energy Becomes a Compute Asset

At the center of Tersis’ proposition is its SynGenic V3 platform, which converts waste feedstocks into electricity and recovered products on-site. Tersis says the system can provide baseload-capable generation with between 10MW and 30MW of capacity at each site. That operating profile gives the partnership a potential answer to one of the industry’s most difficult infrastructure questions: how to secure dependable power for compute projects where grid capacity remains unavailable or delayed. Instead of treating energy as an external utility input, the proposed model makes on-site generation part of the architecture supporting the computing workload.

Flux Core brings a different piece of the equation through its decentralized data center platform, which the company designed for pre-configured deployment and incremental scaling as demand develops. Its infrastructure can integrate off-grid and renewable power and, when circumstances require, individual units can be relocated. That flexibility could prove significant for customers whose computing requirements grow faster than traditional infrastructure can be permitted and connected. The partnership therefore centers on deployment flexibility as much as capacity, with both companies seeking sites where power generation and compute infrastructure can advance together.

Companies Challenge the Conventional AI Buildout

The companies argue that the central infrastructure constraint has shifted from computing hardware toward electricity availability and project timelines. They specifically point to interconnection queues and transmission constraints that have pushed conventional grid-connected projects back by several years. Their proposed response is to place generation and computing closer together, potentially reducing dependence on large transmission upgrades and allowing capacity to expand in smaller increments. The model does not eliminate permitting, financing or development risks, but it changes the infrastructure sequence by making available energy a starting point for compute deployment rather than a dependency that arrives later.

“This relationship creates a practical pathway for matching distributed power production with the growing demand for flexible, high-performance computing infrastructure,” said Antonio Uccello, CEO of Tersis Technologies. “By pairing SynGenic V3 with decentralized data-center deployments, we intend to evaluate projects that can convert suitable waste feedstocks into useful on-site energy while supporting resilient, sustainable AI compute closer to where it is needed.”

“The industry does not have a compute problem so much as a power and timeline problem,” said Reginald York, co-founder and CEO of Flux Core. “Together, we can evaluate opportunities to shorten deployment schedules, add sustainable AI compute in increments the grid can absorb, and create integrated solutions for customers seeking greater flexibility and energy resilience.”

A Distributed Bet on AI Infrastructure

Tersis, headquartered in Brooksville, Florida, focuses on environmental innovation and clean technology, with its business centered on converting industrial and municipal waste into energy. The company says its current pipeline stands between 120MW and 180MW, providing a potential pool of projects for the partnership to evaluate. Flux Core operates from Los Angeles and develops modular distributed data centers powered through solar and battery systems, with the company claiming deployments across California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. The immediate significance of the agreement lies less in announced capacity than in the possibility of turning distributed energy assets into a new foundation for AI compute deployment.
