Bitdeer Adds Third Malaysian AI Infrastructure Hub

Bitdeer AI, the AI cloud business of Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ: BTDR), has signed a 10-year data center services agreement for a 67-megawatt (MW) AI cloud campus in Malaysia. Announced Oct. 8, 2026, the agreement covers a facility known as A901 and adds another major site to the company’s expanding AI infrastructure network. The campus will support liquid-cooled, rack-scale NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems designed for enterprise AI workloads. Bitdeer expects initial capacity deliveries in the first quarter of 2027, with the full 67 MW targeted for delivery in the second quarter

The agreement marks a further step in Bitdeer’s effort to build a larger footprint in Southeast Asia, where demand for high-density AI computing is increasing pressure on infrastructure providers to secure power, cooling and deployment capacity. A901 will become the company’s third Malaysian hub, joining its existing locations in Cyberjaya and Johor. The announcement does not identify the campus’s precise location or disclose the identity of its operator. That leaves important project-level details about site execution and infrastructure delivery undisclosed as Bitdeer prepares to bring the capacity online.

Secured Capacity Reaches 273.5 MW Across Three Markets

A901 lifts Bitdeer AI’s secured AI Cloud data center capacity to approximately 273.5 MW across Malaysia, Norway and the United States. The company defines secured capacity as infrastructure it owns or holds under an executed data center services agreement, with all reported megawatt figures referring to critical IT load rather than total facility power consumption. The expanded portfolio represents approximately 78% of Bitdeer’s target to deliver up to 350 MW of AI-ready data center capacity by the first quarter of 2028. Reaching that goal will require the company to secure another 76.5 MW against its stated target, assuming it maintains the current capacity figures.

The expansion also highlights the distinction between securing infrastructure and converting it into revenue-generating AI cloud services. Bitdeer has secured the data center capacity for A901, but its Oct. 8 announcement states that the company had not entered into customer offtake commitments for the facility. Prospective customers may still negotiate for capacity, but those discussions do not constitute binding commercial agreements or guaranteed revenue. The project therefore advances Bitdeer’s infrastructure expansion without yet establishing contracted customer demand for the entire 67 MW.

$10 Billion AI Cloud Pipeline Signals Demand, Not Backlog

Bitdeer estimates that its active pipeline for AI Cloud capacity exceeds $10 billion, reflecting potential contract value from opportunities under commercial discussion. The company says it expects that pipeline to grow, citing demand for capacity across its AI Cloud locations. However, the estimate does not represent recognized revenue, contracted backlog or binding customer commitments. Contract values per megawatt also vary according to service mix, contract duration and facility location, making the headline pipeline figure an incomplete measure of the revenue that Bitdeer could ultimately secure.

For infrastructure buyers, the distinction matters because AI capacity procurement involves more than reserving space or identifying a future GPU deployment window. Customers must evaluate when the provider can deliver usable compute, which hardware configurations it will support and whether the commercial agreement matches their workload requirements. A large pipeline can indicate active market interest, but it cannot establish how much capacity customers will contract or when providers will generate revenue from it. A901’s commercial progress will therefore depend on Bitdeer’s ability to translate available infrastructure into signed customer agreements on viable terms.

Liquid Cooling and NVIDIA GB300 Systems Shape A901

A901 will be engineered for liquid-cooled, rack-scale NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems intended to support next-generation enterprise AI workloads. This design direction places cooling infrastructure, rack integration and power delivery at the center of the site’s readiness requirements. High-density AI deployments require operators to coordinate the computing equipment with the infrastructure that supports it, rather than treating GPU availability as the sole measure of capacity. Bitdeer’s planned configuration positions A901 to serve workloads that need tightly integrated computing and cooling systems.

The technical specification also creates practical considerations for customers evaluating future deployments. Rack-scale systems require compatible power distribution, liquid-cooling infrastructure and operational processes that can support the intended equipment configuration. Buyers will need clarity on the capacity available at handover, the hardware configuration they can access and the service terms governing their deployments. The announcement identifies the intended NVIDIA platform and cooling approach, but it does not disclose detailed facility specifications, customer pricing or the precise commercial terms of the 10-year agreement.

Management Points to a Supply Gap in Southeast Asia

Michael G. Potter, chief financial officer of Bitdeer Technologies Group, linked the expansion to demand for high-density AI infrastructure across Southeast Asia.

“Demand for liquid-cooled, rack-scale AI capacity in Southeast Asia is running ahead of what the market can deliver, and customers are asking for it earlier and in larger blocks,” said Michael G. Potter, Chief Financial Officer of Bitdeer Technologies Group.

Potter also described the role of the new campus in expanding the company’s options for customer deployments.

“A901 adds 67MW in a third Malaysian location, which widens the set of sites and delivery dates we can put in front of a customer. With this facility, our secured AI Cloud data center capacity stands at approximately 273.5MW, or approximately 78% of our up-to-350MW target.”

The remarks underline a commercial challenge for neocloud providers: customers increasingly need substantial blocks of AI capacity within defined deployment windows, while infrastructure projects must align site readiness, power availability, equipment delivery and cooling systems. Adding another location gives Bitdeer more capacity to offer across its network, although the announcement does not establish that A901 will meet every prospective customer’s preferred deployment date. The targeted 2027 delivery schedule will be an important milestone for determining how quickly the company can convert its infrastructure commitments into usable AI services.

Malaysia Becomes a Larger Part of Bitdeer’s Expansion Strategy

A901 joins Bitdeer’s existing Malaysian operations in Cyberjaya and Johor, adding geographic depth to a market where the company is building a substantial portion of its AI Cloud footprint. The deal follows Bitdeer’s September announcement of a 10-year data center services agreement for A202, a 65.1 MW facility at its existing Johor Bahru campus. Separately, the company announced in September that it had secured customer offtake commitments for more than 70% of the approximately 21.7 MW capacity at its A201 facility in Johor Bahru. These developments show that Bitdeer is pursuing both infrastructure expansion and customer contracting across multiple Malaysian sites.

The A201 agreement offers a useful comparison with A901 because it demonstrates that infrastructure capacity and customer commitments can progress on different timelines. Bitdeer’s Sept. 29 announcement put expected revenue from A201 at more than $1.7 billion over five years, with the company reporting a total expected revenue backlog of approximately $2.9 billion at that time. Those figures relate to previously announced contracted business and should not be attributed to A901, which had no customer offtake commitments as of Oct. 8. The contrast makes customer contracting, rather than capacity announcements alone, an important indicator to watch as Bitdeer scales its Malaysian operations.

Delivery Execution Will Determine the Value of the Expansion

Bitdeer targets initial A901 capacity delivery in the first quarter of 2027 and completion of the full 67 MW in the second quarter. Meeting that schedule will require coordination among the data center services provider, infrastructure readiness, power availability and the deployment of compatible AI systems. The company has not disclosed the campus operator or the site’s precise location, limiting the public information available to assess project execution. Customers considering future capacity will need to track delivery milestones and commercial disclosures rather than assume that signed infrastructure agreements guarantee immediate access to operational GPU capacity.

The broader implication for AI infrastructure buyers is that secured megawatts, available compute and contracted services represent separate stages of capacity delivery. Bitdeer’s expansion strengthens its stated position against the 350 MW target, while the A901 schedule creates a new milestone for its Southeast Asian business. Its active pipeline of more than $10 billion indicates a substantial pool of potential commercial opportunities, but conversion into binding agreements remains uncertain. The next meaningful indicators will be A901’s progress toward energization, the start of capacity delivery and the announcement of customer commitments that establish how much of the new infrastructure will support contracted workloads.
