Firmus has secured full commitments for a $2 billion strategic equity financing round, giving the Australian AI infrastructure company fresh firepower to scale its platform and pursue a larger role in the Asia-Pacific compute market. The financing includes follow-on investments from Coatue and NVIDIA, alongside new capital from funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and other Blackstone vehicles, with Jane Street also participating. The transaction lifts Firmus’ total new equity raised during the past year above $3 billion and pushes its post-money valuation beyond $10.5 billion. That valuation places the company among a growing group of infrastructure players attracting major institutional capital around the rapidly expanding demand for AI compute.

Firmus will direct a significant portion of the funding toward Project Southgate, its AI Factory infrastructure program in Australia. The company also plans targeted investments that can support expansion into additional Asia-Pacific markets as AI-native companies and enterprises compete for access to high-performance computing capacity. Firmus recently disclosed development plans in Indonesia aimed at AI-native customers, giving the new financing a regional dimension beyond its Australian base. The strategy signals an ambition to build a repeatable infrastructure platform rather than operate as a single-market AI cloud provider.

Project Southgate Puts AI Factories at the Center

Project Southgate represents Firmus’ attempt to industrialize AI infrastructure deployment around a standardized operating model. The company builds its infrastructure around NVIDIA’s DSX AI Factory Reference Architecture, with an emphasis on shortening the path between infrastructure investment and usable AI computing capacity. Firmus says its approach targets higher tokens generated per watt while also improving infrastructure resilience as deployments grow larger and more complex. For operators, that combination matters because AI infrastructure economics increasingly depend on how effectively facilities convert constrained electricity into productive compute.

Firmus is also building manufacturing capacity in Australia for its proprietary HyperCube platform. That manufacturing capability gives the company greater control over a critical part of the infrastructure stack while supporting its broader vertically integrated strategy. Firmus combines its hardware with grid-aware software, proprietary energy systems and cooling technologies, connecting computing infrastructure more directly with the electricity systems that power it. The result is a model that reaches beyond conventional cloud infrastructure and treats energy availability, cooling performance and compute output as parts of the same operating equation.

Firmus Targets the Energy-to-Compute Equation

At the heart of Firmus’ proposition sits a deliberately simple operating philosophy: converting “energy in” to “tokens out” as efficiently as possible. That framing reflects a larger shift in AI infrastructure economics, where access to electricity can constrain deployment just as severely as access to GPUs, networking or physical space. As model training and inference workloads expand, infrastructure operators increasingly need to evaluate facilities through measures such as compute density, power efficiency, cooling performance and workload productivity. Firmus is positioning its platform around that intersection rather than treating electricity as a separate utility input.

The company’s vertically integrated model also gives Project Southgate a broader strategic role. Firmus wants the platform to serve AI-native companies as well as enterprise customers that need dependable access to accelerated computing. Its repeatable AI Factory design could allow the company to deploy capacity across multiple locations while maintaining a common infrastructure and operating framework. This approach can become particularly valuable across Asia-Pacific, where power markets, grid conditions, land availability and AI demand vary significantly from one country to another.

Blackstone, Coatue and Jane Street Back AI Infrastructure

Blackstone has identified AI infrastructure as one of its highest-conviction investment themes, providing an important signal about the scale of institutional interest behind Firmus’ latest financing. The investment comes from funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and other Blackstone vehicles, within a broader organization managing more than $1.3 trillion across real estate, private equity, credit, infrastructure, life sciences and growth equity. The participation gives Firmus access to capital from an investor with significant exposure to large-scale physical infrastructure markets. It also highlights how AI infrastructure increasingly sits at the intersection of technology and traditional infrastructure investment.

Coatue, which manages more than $90 billion, pointed to Firmus’ proprietary intellectual property, manufacturing approach and repeatable infrastructure deployment model as differentiators in the expanding AI infrastructure market. Those characteristics address several of the industry’s emerging pressure points at once: speed of deployment, supply-chain control and the ability to replicate infrastructure across multiple markets. Firmus now has the financial capacity to push those advantages beyond Australia while continuing to build its domestic platform. The challenge will be turning the capital advantage into repeatable deployments that meet commercial demand without compromising power efficiency or resilience.

Jane Street’s participation adds another perspective centered on the growing importance of dependable high-performance computing. The firm said reliable access to high-performance computing is becoming increasingly important as AI models grow larger and more capable. That demand extends beyond AI laboratories and hyperscalers, with financial services, enterprise software and other compute-intensive industries increasingly dependent on predictable access to advanced infrastructure. Firmus is positioning itself to capture that demand by combining AI cloud services with infrastructure designed specifically around accelerated computing workloads.

$3 Billion Raised Changes Firmus’ Growth Trajectory

Firmus now has more than $3 billion in new equity raised over the past year, giving the company an unusually large capital base for executing its next stage of infrastructure expansion. The latest $2 billion round takes its valuation above $10.5 billion and creates room to pursue multiple initiatives simultaneously rather than sequence them one after another. Domestic manufacturing, Project Southgate deployments and international expansion can now advance as interconnected parts of a single infrastructure strategy. That scale could become a competitive advantage as AI infrastructure providers compete for equipment, electricity, customers and suitable deployment locations.

The larger question is whether Firmus can translate that capital into an enduring regional AI infrastructure platform. Asia-Pacific offers significant demand growth, but every new market introduces different grid structures, energy economics, regulatory requirements and customer needs. Indonesia marks one early expansion opportunity, while the Australian base provides Firmus with a manufacturing and infrastructure foundation from which to build. The company’s next phase will therefore test whether its AI Factory model can remain repeatable when the surrounding power and infrastructure environments change.
