Google, reportedly, has announced an additional $9 billion investment in Virginia through 2026, aimed at strengthening its cloud and AI infrastructure.
As Google is expanding its local presence, including a new data center in Chesterfield County, it is working with local partners on solutions for growing energy capacity demand, including efficiency programs and innovative technologies.
Beyond infrastructure, Google is also committing to workforce development. As part of its broader $1 billion nationwide initiative, all Virginia-based college students now have free access to the Google AI Pro plan and one year of AI training. Institutions including the University of Virginia, Brightpoint Community College, and Northern Virginia Community College are part of the inaugural Google AI for Education Accelerator cohort.
Additionally, Virginians can benefit from the “Virginia Has Jobs” AI Career Launch Pad, offering statewide access to AI skills training.
This dual focus on infrastructure and education underscores Google’s effort to drive economic opportunity in Virginia while advancing U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence.
