In a regional-first move, HUMAIN, a PIF company, and Groq announced the full-scale deployment of OpenAI’s newly released open-source models – gpt-oss-120B and gpt-oss-20B, on Groq’s ultra-high-speed inference platform, hosted within Saudi Arabia in HUMAIN’s next-generation sovereign data centers.

This marks a pivotal leap in global AI capability and compliance, fusing world-class open models, lightning-fast inference, and full regulatory alignment for users across Saudi Arabia, the GCC, and beyond.

OpenAI’s newly launched gpt-oss-120B and gpt-oss-20B bring world-class scale and reasoning capacity into the open-source domain, with full 128K context support – enabling deeper, more coherent, and longer-form understanding, reasoning, and dialogue. These models are more than just larger; they’re smarter, faster, and architected with native tools for real-time execution (e.g., code evaluation and semantic search), transforming their utility for individuals, researchers, developers, and enterprises. From academic discovery to real world deployment, these models empower a new era of open innovation without limits.

Groq’s chip architecture and cloud platform are built specifically for ultra efficient, high-speed AI inference. Unlike general-purpose GPU systems, Groq delivers deterministic performance, radically lower cost-per-token, and real-time response at global scale – from day zero.

The gpt-oss-120B model is currently running at 500+ tokens per second and gpt oss-20B model at 1,000+ tokens per second on the Groq infrastructure.

By deploying these new open models on Groq’s infrastructure inside HUMAIN’s data centers within Saudi Arabia, all activity is subject to and aligned with the Kingdom’s regulatory, legal, and data sovereignty requirements – a game changer for Saudi enterprises, developers, and public sector innovators seeking global-grade AI with full local compliance. This enables Saudi individuals and organizations to legally and securely harness the most powerful open models on the planet, without needing to compromise on data privacy, latency, or compliance – all while accelerating the Kingdom’s AI sovereignty goals.

This announcement represents the next phase of the strategic partnership between HUMAIN and Groq, first unveiled in May 2025. From AI training to AI inference, HUMAIN is establishing Saudi Arabia as the central AI corridor between East and West – connecting capability, compliance, and compute across the GCC, the Levant, Africa, Asia, and global South and the rest of the world.

“This is a defining moment for Saudi Arabia,” said Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN. “With the deployment of OpenAI’s most powerful open models, hosted right here inside the Kingdom, Saudi developers, researchers, and enterprises now have direct access to the global frontier of AI – fully aligned with our national regulations and data laws. This is what AI sovereignty looks like, and it’s only the beginning.”

“Groq was built to run models like this – fast, affordably, and at scale,” said Jonathan Ross, CEO of Groq. “Our partnership with HUMAIN gives us a powerful regional and globally central presence in one of the fastest-growing AI ecosystems on the planet. Together, we’re proving what’s possible when world-class infrastructure meets world changing ambition.”
