Infosys and Amazon Web Services have entered a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating enterprise adoption of generative artificial intelligence and supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives. The announcement positions the partnership within a broader industry shift as enterprises seek practical pathways to embed GenAI into core business operations.

The collaboration integrates Infosys Topaz, the company’s AI-first suite of services and platforms, with Amazon Q Developer, AWS’s generative AI-powered assistant. Together, the technologies are designed to support both internal operational efficiency at Infosys and innovation-led transformation for global enterprise clients.

The combined offering targets sectors including manufacturing, telecommunications, financial services, and consumer goods. These industries face growing pressure to modernise workflows, increase developer productivity, and shorten innovation cycles as AI capabilities mature.

Focus on productivity and operational modernisation

According to Infosys, the partnership aims to help enterprises improve productivity, modernise operations, and unlock new value by embedding GenAI across business processes. Infosys Topaz applies advanced GenAI technologies to enable AI-driven transformation across consulting, delivery, and managed services engagements.

Amazon Q Developer supports software teams through capabilities such as code generation, debugging, testing, and application modernisation. The integration allows development teams to accelerate software lifecycles while aligning AI use with enterprise governance and security requirements.

By combining platform-level AI tooling with service-led transformation, the collaboration reflects a wider trend in which cloud providers and IT services firms align to operationalise GenAI rather than position it solely as an experimental technology.

Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to enabling organisations to harness GenAI at scale.

“The combined strengths of Amazon Q and Infosys Topaz will help organisations innovate faster, achieve greater operational agility, and unlock differentiated value for their customers,” he said.

Balakrishna D R, Executive Vice President and Global Services Head for AI and Industry Verticals at Infosys, said the collaboration is influencing how enterprise value is created and delivered.

“By integrating Amazon Q Developer with Infosys Topaz, we are not only transforming our internal functions, such as development cycles, but also enabling our clients to reimagine critical business areas including human resources, recruitment, and vendor management,” he said.

The statements underline a shift toward applied GenAI use cases that extend beyond software development into broader enterprise functions.

India market context and AWS expansion

The partnership emerges as Amazon continues to expand its footprint in India. In December, the company announced plans to invest more than $35 billion in the country by 2030 across its businesses. The investment strategy focuses on infrastructure expansion, AI-led digitisation, export growth, and job creation.

India has become a priority market for global cloud and AI providers due to its enterprise base, digital public infrastructure, and large developer ecosystem. Collaborations with established IT services firms allow hyperscalers to reach complex enterprise environments more effectively.

Workforce realignment amid AI shift

At the same time, Amazon has restructured its workforce globally as AI adoption reshapes operating models across the technology sector. In July last year, the company laid off several hundred employees across multiple AWS teams, according to a Reuters report.

The job reductions reflected efforts to realign resources and prioritise strategic AI investments as competition intensifies in cloud and AI markets. Industry analysts note that such workforce adjustments have become common as automation and GenAI tools change how engineering and operational work is executed.

The Infosys-AWS collaboration illustrates how GenAI adoption increasingly depends on ecosystem partnerships that combine platforms, industry expertise, and change management. Enterprises now seek measurable outcomes, such as productivity gains and faster time to market, rather than standalone AI deployments.
