Samsung Electronics and five Samsung affiliates are committing a combined $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, adding another major pool of long-duration capital to KKR’s AI infrastructure platform. Samsung Electronics will provide $500 million, while Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will collectively provide the other $500 million. The investment places Samsung alongside KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA and Vistra in a platform designed to develop infrastructure for large-scale AI computing. For Samsung, the transaction also creates a route into a broader infrastructure stack that stretches beyond semiconductors and into data centers, power, connectivity, cooling and energy storage.

Samsung Adds $1 Billion to Helix Capital Base

Helix Digital Infrastructure and KKR announced the Samsung commitment as additional long-duration capital for the platform’s global buildout. The investment follows more than $10 billion of capital committed to the Helix strategy when it launched, giving the platform a substantial financial base for infrastructure development. Samsung’s participation expands that capital group while bringing capabilities from several businesses that operate across technology, construction, IT services and energy systems. The structure reflects how AI infrastructure investment increasingly involves more than financing compute hardware because the facilities supporting large clusters also require power, physical development and network connectivity.

Samsung Electronics accounts for half of the new commitment, with its $500 million investment representing the largest individual contribution from the participating Samsung companies. Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will together invest the remaining $500 million. That combination gives the transaction a wider industrial dimension because several participating affiliates operate in businesses relevant to developing and supporting digital infrastructure. Samsung said the affiliates’ capabilities across the AI infrastructure stack provide a basis for future cooperation with Helix.

Helix Targets the Full AI Infrastructure Stack

KKR established Helix in June 2026 to address the infrastructure requirements of hyperscalers as AI workloads increase demand for large computing environments. The company’s model covers hyperscale data center development and operations, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber-optic networks. That scope positions Helix around the physical systems required before large AI deployments can operate, rather than around compute hardware alone. Helix aims to provide integrated infrastructure that allows hyperscale customers to secure several critical components of deployment through a broader development platform.

Power forms a particularly important part of that strategy because large data center developments depend on sufficient generation and delivery infrastructure alongside the facilities themselves. Helix plans to work across baseload and flexible energy sources while also investing in transmission and distribution assets required to move electricity to computing sites. Fiber connectivity forms another part of the platform, linking the data center and power strategy with the network infrastructure needed for hyperscale operations. Meanwhile, combining these systems under one investment platform could give Helix greater control over infrastructure dependencies that otherwise sit across separate developers and service providers.

Samsung Brings Industrial Capabilities Into Helix

The investment creates potential operating relationships between Helix and Samsung businesses beyond the financial commitment itself. Samsung has capabilities spanning semiconductors, construction, data center operations, energy storage and cooling-related technologies, creating several areas where its affiliates could participate in future infrastructure development. Helix and Samsung expect to explore opportunities that draw on those capabilities as the platform develops projects for hyperscale customers. The relationship therefore connects long-duration infrastructure capital with a technology group whose businesses touch several physical layers of AI deployment.

Helix CEO and Co-Founder Adam Selipsky described the investment as an expansion of the platform’s financial and industrial backing. “Samsung’s commitment is a strong vote of confidence in Helix’s strategy and further deepens the long-term capital base we’ve built to meet the scale of AI infrastructure demand,” Selipsky said. “As one of the world’s leading technology companies, Samsung brings unique capabilities that we expect will benefit Helix and its customers, and we look forward to working together to accelerate the deployment of next-generation digital infrastructure for hyperscalers around the world.” The statement highlights how Helix sees Samsung not only as a source of capital but also as a potential contributor to infrastructure delivery.

KKR Builds Helix Around Hyperscale Infrastructure Demand

Helix launched with backing from KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA and U.S. power company Vistra, with more than $10 billion committed to the strategy. NVIDIA participates as a strategic partner, while Vistra provides a connection to the power side of the infrastructure equation. The platform is led by Selipsky, the former chief executive of Amazon Web Services, and is building a management team with experience across the data center and power industries. Helix can also draw on KKR’s global infrastructure business, which Samsung said includes about 170 dedicated professionals.

That combination gives Helix exposure to several parts of the development chain that AI infrastructure operators must coordinate when adding large amounts of computing capacity. Capital can fund projects, but developers must also secure sites, electricity, transmission access, network infrastructure and the physical systems required to operate high-density computing environments. Helix’s model attempts to bring those requirements together rather than treating the data center as an isolated real estate asset. As a result, the Samsung commitment adds industrial capabilities to a platform already structured around capital, computing technology and power.

Samsung Broadens Its Position in AI Infrastructure

For Samsung, the Helix investment extends its exposure to AI infrastructure beyond the semiconductor layer where the company already maintains a major global presence. Samsung Electronics can participate through semiconductor technology, while other affiliates bring capabilities associated with construction, IT services, batteries and infrastructure operations. That breadth could become increasingly relevant as AI facilities require closer coordination among computing equipment, electrical systems, thermal infrastructure and building development. The investment gives those businesses a potential route into projects developed through Helix without requiring Samsung to build a separate global AI infrastructure platform from the ground up.

The transaction also illustrates how the economics of AI deployment increasingly extend into physical infrastructure surrounding computing systems. Data centers need sufficient power capacity, network connectivity and supporting equipment before operators can deploy large GPU clusters at scale. Companies able to participate across several of those layers may find opportunities that extend beyond supplying individual components. Samsung’s commitment to Helix puts multiple affiliates into the same infrastructure relationship, creating a broader commercial connection to future hyperscale development.

Helix Gains Capital for Global AI Buildout

Samsung’s $1 billion commitment raises the capital supporting Helix beyond the more than $10 billion committed when the strategy launched. The additional funding will support investments in data centers, power, connectivity and related infrastructure required for expanding AI workloads. Helix has positioned itself around the idea that hyperscalers need integrated access to these resources as infrastructure requirements become larger and more interconnected. Samsung’s participation adds another large strategic investor while potentially widening the pool of technology and industrial capabilities available to the platform.

The significance of the deal therefore extends beyond the headline investment amount. KKR is assembling a platform that links institutional capital with power, technology and infrastructure development, while Samsung gains exposure to projects where several of its businesses could potentially participate. For AI customers, the underlying development model points toward infrastructure procurement becoming increasingly integrated across compute facilities, electricity, cooling and connectivity. Samsung’s entry into Helix adds another major industrial participant to that emerging model.
