Abu Dhabi-based digital infrastructure company Zero Two has taken a stake in Evolution Data Centres, joining private equity firm Warburg Pincus as co-owner of the Southeast Asia-focused platform, according to the companies’ joint announcement reported by Reuters.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Zero Two, part of sovereign wealth fund Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC (ADQ), said the deal marks its first investment in Southeast Asia since its launch in 2022. The funding will provide long-term growth capital to speed up Evolution’s development of hyperscale-ready, renewable-powered data centres across the region.

Warburg Pincus first invested in Evolution in 2022 through a joint venture. Since then, the company has expanded into Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Evolution CEO and co-founder Darren Webb said Zero Two’s involvement as a strategic investor will help advance the company’s mission to deliver sustainable, high-performance digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia.

Zero Two CEO Ahmed Al Hameli noted the partnership aligns with the company’s strategy of deploying long-term capital, while Warburg Pincus Principal Andrew Fitzpatrick highlighted the “high growth trajectory” for large-scale data centre capacity in Southeast Asia’s underserved markets amid surging cloud and AI demand.
