Hardware Refresh

An incoming shipment of GPU servers can look like the final step before additional computing capacity becomes available, but receiving equipment and putting it into production are two very different operational milestones. Data center operators can secure hardware, reserve rack positions, arrange power capacity, and schedule network connections well ahead of deployment, yet the installation schedule can still slip when qualified technicians cannot complete the physical work. Rack-and-stack activities, structured cabling, component installation, connectivity checks, and hardware replacement all require people who understand the equipment and the operating environment in which it must function. This creates a workforce dependency that conventional procurement schedules rarely capture because equipment delivery does not automatically translate into installation readiness.

Building an AI Startup Without Owning GPUs

Not owning GPUs has become the default, deliberate strategy for building an AI company — not a compromise founders accept reluctantly. H100 rental rates fell 64-75% in fifteen months, a dense ecosystem of neoclouds and inference-as-a-service providers now lets startups skip infrastructure entirely, and credit programs can fund a company’s first year before a founder writes a check
