South Korea will invest a record amount in its artificial intelligence infrastructure, semiconductor and high-end computing capabilities with data centers being at the heart of its future growth. President Lee Jae Myung has announced an investment of KRW 820.9 trillion (US 15.8 billion) into artificial intelligence, physical AI, semiconductor and AI data center infrastructure. This is almost double the amount invested in 2026 and shows the country’s efforts to boost its position in the computing infrastructure value chain.
