The London data center market has gained another development opportunity after Japanese telecommunications group KDDI Corporation and its subsidiary Telehouse International Corporation of Europe completed the acquisition of the Inventory Estate in East India Dock for more than £220 million. The transaction gives the companies control of a property holding beside Telehouse’s established London Docklands campus bringing additional land, secured electricity capacity and existing planning consent into the group’s expansion strategy. According to property‑sector reporting the estate covers 1.1 million square feet although its total size should not be confused with the proposed computing facility, which has planning consent for 376,000 square feet. The acquisition also includes access to 65 MVA of power capacity establishing an important infrastructure foundation for a planned high‑density, AI‑ready data center.

Building an AI Startup Without Owning GPUs

Not owning GPUs has become the default, deliberate strategy for building an AI company — not a compromise founders accept reluctantly. H100 rental rates fell 64-75% in fifteen months, a dense ecosystem of neoclouds and inference-as-a-service providers now lets startups skip infrastructure entirely, and credit programs can fund a company’s first year before a founder writes a check
