Gerchamp is expanding modular AI infrastructure with a portfolio that brings high-density computing capacity to locations with available power. Its new systems combine power, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, backup systems and intelligent controls in factory-assembled infrastructure for sites where conventional data center construction could take too long or require too much space. The portfolio spans a 500kW all-in-one configuration through coordinated deployments reaching 3.5MW, giving operators a scalable route from smaller installations to multi-megawatt AI capacity. The strategy reflects a broader shift as AI operators seek computing locations closer to available electricity and the data that workloads need to process.

AI demand increasingly reaches industrial environments where conventional data center capacity may not exist nearby. Manufacturing facilities can use real-time computer vision, while telecom operators process rising volumes of local traffic and video. Oil, gas and mining operations can also run AI against operational data in locations with limited connectivity or access to conventional computing infrastructure. Gerchamp addresses those requirements by combining power distribution, liquid cooling, UPS systems, Nickel-Zinc battery backup, building management systems and DCIM within integrated modular systems.

From 500kW To 3.5MW AI Systems

Gerchamp starts its portfolio with a 500kW all-in-one system that consolidates core AI infrastructure inside a single container. The configuration provides IT space and power distribution for five OCP racks or four NVIDIA NVL72 racks, alongside Gerchamp’s direct-to-chip liquid cooling, UPS, Nickel-Zinc battery backup, BMS and DCIM. By bringing these functions together, Gerchamp reduces the amount of infrastructure coordination required at the deployment site. Operators can therefore use a compact system where physical space limits expansion even when computing demand remains strong.

For larger workloads, Gerchamp combines multiple containers into a coordinated 3.5MW system. The configuration uses two IT containers, two cooling containers and one power container, supporting 24 OCP racks or 20 NVIDIA NVL72 racks with power density of up to 175kW per rack. Gerchamp integrates and tests each system at its factory before shipping it to the customer. Customers install their selected servers and GPUs separately, allowing the infrastructure platform to arrive tested while leaving compute hardware choices to the operator.

Expansion Tracks Available Power

Gerchamp’s modular approach also changes how operators can plan AI capacity. Instead of committing capital to a large facility before demand fully emerges, operators can deploy infrastructure through defined power blocks and expand when additional electricity and compute requirements justify the next stage. That model can help organizations align infrastructure growth with incremental power availability and operational demand. Gerchamp says its 500kW infrastructure can come online in weeks, while multi-megawatt deployments can reach customers within months.

“AI infrastructure is no longer limited to traditional data center sites,” said Frank Yang, chairman of Gerchamp. “Where power is available, there is an opportunity to deploy compute. The challenge is having infrastructure that can be deployed quickly and work within the site’s constraints. We are bringing power, liquid cooling, backup, and intelligent controls together in a modular platform so AI infrastructure can go where compute and power come together.” The launch signals Gerchamp’s push toward a more distributed AI infrastructure model, with available power serving as a potential starting point for deployment rather than simply another constraint in conventional data center development.

Building an AI Startup Without Owning GPUs

Not owning GPUs has become the default, deliberate strategy for building an AI company — not a compromise founders accept reluctantly. H100 rental rates fell 64-75% in fifteen months, a dense ecosystem of neoclouds and inference-as-a-service providers now lets startups skip infrastructure entirely, and credit programs can fund a company’s first year before a founder writes a check
