The British Data Centre Covenant, announced on Oct. 28, establishes a more direct relationship between national infrastructure priorities and the obligations operators must meet to qualify for enhanced government support. The initiative targets a central constraint on Britain’s AI ambitions: developers can secure sites, procure computing equipment and attract investment without having a reliable timetable for the electricity needed to operate their facilities.
