TM Nxera has secured a long-term electricity supply to support Johor’s AI green data center campus. As a result, the move strengthens Malaysia’s efforts to scale sustainable digital infrastructure. The company signed a multi-year power agreement with Tenaga Nasional Berhad to secure 280 megawatts of electricity for its upcoming campus in Iskandar Puteri. Notably, TM Nxera expects the first phase of operations to begin in 2026.

Company leaders marked the agreement during a document exchange ceremony in Kuala Lumpur. Senior executives from Telekom Malaysia, TM Nxera, and Tenaga Nasional attended the event. More importantly, the ceremony highlighted the importance of reliable and scalable power in meeting rising demand for cloud computing and AI-driven services across Malaysia.

Power Agreement Anchors Johor’s AI Green Data Centre Campus

Under the agreement, TM Nxera secured electricity capacity to support the site’s phased development. As construction advances, the company is preparing the campus for high-density computing environments. At the same time, TM Nxera is building the facility to maintain operational stability at scale.

Moreover, the company has planned the campus as a hyperconnected site. The infrastructure will scale alongside future AI and cloud workloads. Consequently, the project aligns closely with long-term digital growth targets.

TM Nxera, a joint venture between Telekom Malaysia and Nxera, Singtel’s regional data center arm, views the project as a core element of Malaysia’s national digital infrastructure. By securing power early, the company has stabilized deployment timelines. In addition, it has strengthened long-term capacity planning for the Johor campus.

Mahathir bin Said, chief executive officer of TM Nxera, said reliable and sustainable energy remains critical to advancing Malaysia’s digital economy. He added that the agreement supports green digital infrastructure. Furthermore, he noted that the campus will help accelerate AI adoption and attract global technology investment.

Sustainable, AI-Ready Design Targets Regional Demand

TM Nxera is developing the Johor campus as a cloud-enabled Tier III data center. The company has also designated the project as a flagship within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. With scalable capacity exceeding 200 megawatts, the site will serve hyperscalers, AI application providers, and enterprises expanding across the region.

To support large-scale AI deployments, TM Nxera plans to deploy advanced liquid cooling technologies. Meanwhile, the company is designing the campus to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards. These efforts integrate energy- and water-efficient systems throughout the facility. As a result, customers can access secure and cost-effective infrastructure without building or operating their own sites.

Telekom Malaysia and the Singtel Group’s Digital InfraCo platform will support campus connectivity through subsea cable networks. Through this integration, the campus will deliver global reach and low-latency network performance.

With power secured, TM Nxera now positions Johor’s AI green data center campus as a cornerstone of Malaysia’s next phase of digital infrastructure development. Ultimately, the project will support growing regional demand for AI, cloud services, and sustainable industrial growth.
