Malaysia’s Global Telecommunications Group has secured a 36-acre parcel in Kota Seri Langat, Selangor, laying the groundwork for what could become a 210MW data center campus. The acquisition strengthens the company’s domestic infrastructure footprint as Malaysia continues to attract investment tied to cloud computing, AI workloads, and digital services. While the company has not disclosed a construction schedule, the scale of the proposed facility points to another major capacity addition in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets. The purchase also highlights how developers are increasingly targeting master-planned industrial zones capable of supporting large-scale data center projects. The land was acquired by Global Data Infrastructure Sdn Bhd, the data center subsidiary of Global Telecommunications Group. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Likewise, neither party released details regarding the project’s investment value or development phases.

Kota Seri Langat Emerges as Another Strategic Digital Infrastructure Destination

Kota Seri Langat spans approximately 2,890 acres in Banting, southern Selangor, and has been planned as a mixed-use township combining industrial and residential developments. The industrial district has increasingly drawn attention from infrastructure investors seeking large development parcels with room for future expansion. Such integrated developments provide flexibility for power-intensive projects while supporting broader regional economic activity. Consequently, the location offers developers an opportunity to scale facilities as enterprise and hyperscale demand continues to grow.

Compass IP was created to manage the industrial zone within the wider Kota Seri Langat development. The venture is backed by three major Malaysian institutions, including state-owned fund management company Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), pension fund investment agency Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan), and AREA Industrial Development Holdings. Their participation reflects growing institutional interest in industrial real estate linked to the country’s expanding digital economy. The transaction places another significant infrastructure project within an ecosystem designed to accommodate long-term industrial investment.

Selangor Reinforces Its Position in Malaysia’s Data Center Growth Story

Selangor remains one of Malaysia’s most important locations for digital infrastructure because of its proximity to Kuala Lumpur, established connectivity, and access to enterprise customers. The state also includes Cyberjaya, one of the country’s largest and most mature data center clusters. Continued demand from hyperscale cloud providers, AI platforms, and digital businesses has accelerated investment across the region. As a result, developers continue to seek additional land capable of supporting high-capacity facilities.

The planned 210MW campus would represent a substantial addition to the state’s available data center capacity if fully developed. Large campuses of this scale typically require significant planning around utility availability, transmission infrastructure, and long-term expansion potential. Although Global Telecommunications Group has not released a project timeline, the acquisition positions the company to participate in Malaysia’s next phase of digital infrastructure growth. Future announcements are expected to provide greater clarity on construction milestones and operational targets.

Global Telecommunications Group Expands Regional Data Center Portfolio

Global Telecommunications Group already operates five data center facilities across Malaysia and Indonesia. Its Malaysian portfolio includes sites in Kulim, Kedah; Melaka; Sedenak, Johor; and Kuching, Sarawak. The company also operates a facility in Batam, Indonesia, serving customers across the Strait of Malacca. The Selangor acquisition extends the company’s geographic presence into another strategically important market within Malaysia. The expansion comes as operators continue to diversify capacity across multiple regions rather than relying on a single metropolitan hub. Larger campus developments also give providers room to accommodate future customer demand without securing new land for every expansion phase. For infrastructure operators, early access to suitable industrial sites has become an increasingly valuable competitive advantage. The latest acquisition indicates that Global Telecommunications Group is positioning itself for sustained growth as enterprise digital infrastructure requirements continue to increase.
